Bob Seaman of Huntsville moved from our Advisory Board to the Chief Financial Officer position on May 11. Bob has 35 years of experience in business management & ownership in the areas of computer network administration, consumer electronics, and contract manufacturing. We are very excited to have him.

Our deceleration-triggered stop lamp patent was issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on May 3, 2016.
AU and UAH student teams assist MechOptix
A University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) team is developing a Marketing Plan for the Stoptix automatic brake lamp product and a bicycle version as a class project for this semester.
An Auburn Universtity (AU) team is working with MechOptix on branding, graphics and product packaging this semester. The team will grow in the summer semester to include graduate students who will tackle product development for upcoming products.
Justin Sulfridge joins the team, brings mechanical design experience
Justin Sulfridge joined the MechOptix team in January. Justin is a mechanical engineer who received his bachelors from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and his masters from Auburn. He will apply his experience in CAD and structural analysis to the products from MechOptix.

MechOptix selected by SolidWorks for Entrepreneur Sponsorship program
MechOptix was selected on December 3 for the SolidWorks Entrepreneur Sponsorship program. This means that we will have the use of $80,000 in software for one year. And the real kicker is that SolidWorks will use our designs in their marketing, including inviting us to showcase our products at SolidWorks World 2016 in Dallas on January 31 through February 3.

MechOptix graduates from JusticeXL accelerator, part of the LaunchTN initiative
MechOptix graduated from the JusticeXL startup accelerator program on Investor Day (Demo Day) on November 18 in Tullahoma, TN. Jeff Hammock pitched the first product, the team and the opportunity to investors from the region.
Patent Office approves application
The USPTO allowed our two claims in the Deceleration-Triggered LED Stop Lamp non-provisional utility patent application. It was almost three years since we filed the application. Stay tuned for a photo of our founder Jeff Hammock holding the actual patent.
MechOptix is finalist in Alabama Launchpad Startup Competition
Ten companies pitched to a panel of judges in Birmingham AL on October 2. Five of the ten teams were selected as finalists. MechOptix is very happy to be continuing in the competition.
Secured seed funds for pilot production run
MechOptix secured seed funds for a pilot production run of 1,000 Stoptix automatic brake lamps and the associated activities to launch the product on the market.
